Since 1929, we've been serving all of your personal, life, property, casualty, and commercial insurance needs.
Our history
CFM Insurance, Inc was founded in 1929 by Clarke F. Maire and Herbert K. Meyer while both men were insurance pioneers in downtown Chicago, each working with different companies. It was at that time that they recognized the need for a more personal level of service for clients and the Clarke F. Maire Insurance Company was started. After a few years, Herb bought out the interests of Clarke and began working with extreme focus on building his agency. Over the years, Herb Meyer brought in his son, Dennis, to work with him and continue the excellence that clients had come to appreciate.
In 1972, Herb passed the control of the agency to a well deserved Dennis. Sensing the need to be focused more in the western suburbs of Chicago, Dennis moved the office west. As the business grew, so did the internal team. Adding producers and Client Service Representatives as required by the growth of the company. Through it all, the personal level of service that was embodied in the founders remained the core focus of the newly named CFM Insurance, Inc. Moving into the ’80′s, Dennis asked his close friend, Dave Corning, a then school teacher with aspirations to find an area that would allow him more flexibility and opportunity, to join CFM Insurance, Inc. Dave Corning came on board and worked closely with Dennis to build the agency and his own personal book of business.
In 1989, after much industry experience and a strong desire to change from the Carrier side of the business to the more personal Agency side, Dennis’ son Dave, joined CFM as an internal Customer Service Representative. Since that time, Dennis, Dave Corning and Dave Meyer all worked closely together to develop and grow the agency and especially training Dave Meyer to insure that succession would be in place.
Growing through by means of client acquisition and agency acquisition, CFM Insurance, Inc. has developed into a specialized powerhouse. With key niches, CFM has been able to effectively become a true extension of our clients business. In the same way that clients call Accounting, HR, or Legal, CFM has been able to become the Insurance Department for its clients.
Through all the growth on the Commercial and Group Benefits Lines side of our business, we have not lost touch with the ever important Personal Lines client. In late 2013, CFM Insurance, Inc made yet another strategic move by focusing on the growth of the Private Markets side of business where clients have Personal Lines that need the same attention as their ever changing Commercial and Group Benefits Lines. Additionally, Matt Lowen joined CFM Insurance, Inc bringing valuable experience in the faith-based (church/non-profit) markets.
At the end of 2011, Dennis Meyer made the decision to retire and asked Dave Meyer to move from Vice President into the role of President of CFM Insurance, Inc. Taking on more responsibility, Dave manages his own clients and all carrier contracts.
Moving forward, CFM Insurance, Inc. is poised for local and national growth with the right team in place and the right carriers to service clients at a new level.
